Day 28, Monday, leaving Arizona
Oh how we slept last night. We woke up refreshed, jump into the shower, then a bowl of porridge and we were ready to face the day. Dan had the night before found an RV shop where we could buy some parts for our camper. It became new sunroof (one of four) that was cracked. This we changed in the parking lot outside the store. Then we bought some small items that were damaged and also found a new shower with less flush to save the precious water. Then we rolled off to new adventures. We took roads that led us to the Mexican border but chose to stay on this site of the border or the US. We stopped for late lunch in the RV, washing Iris hair and shaving Dan's beard, out in the sun.
Then we drove west and north on roads that were just straight and long. The journey was pretty boring until we found the small town Salton Sea Beach which is located on Salton Lake. When we turned right towards the town we noted a Dodge pickup with a camper on that looked a lot like our traveling caravan. They were parked with hazard lights on between the lanes on the Highway. Well we wondered if they already had some help on the way and then rushed to the beach, so they got no help from us. As we approached the beach, what met us not be described with words. Luckily we have pictures. Check on them then you understand. The lake is beautiful, the surroundings are beautiful, the mountains in the background and are wonderful but then this former beautiful beach is completely a wrack The strange thing is that there was a small community with nice houses just next street to the former beach.. We took some pictures and then we rolled back. The dodge was still standing on the crossroads and now with the hood up. We parked at the roadside and run over the Highway 86 with our lives in hold. It proved to be pair that just like us, is on road trip but a much longer one. They have been on the road for more than a year. On their t-shirt said "naked hippie" and so is their blog called too. After Dan did some “laying hands” over the motor, the Dodge started again, the guy joked that we had brought some good energy. Of course he didn´t know that Dan always has luck with everything he touches. Nice people that we will certainly meet again on Facebook. Unfortunately, we forgot our camera in the car when we ran across the highway so you have to check out their blog instead. Now it's dark and we have come to Indian Wells in California or that’s what we believe it's called. We felt nothing much happened today until we meet our new friends, so it still was another good day.
